Plumes d’Afrique is a biennale celebrating contemporary African literary and artistic expression, taking place over a month, and showcasing established and emerging talent from the African continent and its diaspora, under the patronage of Malagasy writer Jean-Luc Raharimanana.
The poster for the 2023 edition carries on the use of portraits developped in previous editions, and opens it up to a new context, a dreamlike landscape of dunes on a starry night, with a figure appearing to walk in the distance. I wanted to introduce a more poetical narrative gesture to the posters, and this was further explored in the 2025 edition which departed completely from the portrait. It is built over a patchwork motif, as an ode to african print motif, including the figure of the bird. The poster was loosely inspired from a poem by Germaine Kouméalo ANATÉ - L'OISEAU PRENDS SON ENVOL, the patchwork provides a metaphorical backdrop, representing different countries, people, and cultures the bird might encounter on his migration.
